From Munitions Engineer's Marketing Handbook, by An d'Breece, Hammer & Thong Pub., San Diego, May 2008:
Guideline # 2: A precise number has a self-validating degree of authenticity that is 30 times more effective than a nice round inflated number, especially when used with the concomitant most significant unit (smaller units imply greater precision).
For example: "Our SocketRocket™ will hit within 3.25 feet of the target" is better than "Our SocketRocket™ will hit within one meter of the target."
Even better (worth ~ 30 % markup): "Our improved UpsocketRocket© with SuperSight® targeting will hit within 39 inches of the target!"
Best (worth a solid 70% markup): "Our advanced PocketRocket® using PinPoint™ targeting and a 2 kilogram KloseKill® payload having a 41 inch 96% probability termination radius, with factory demonstrated 99% reliability at a 51% confidence level, essentially guarantees that, on the average, you will be back. This week's special: 10% discount on our three-year/three-mission Assured Survival Warrantee*—full refund of warrantee cost, less S&H, if your PinPoint™ PR doesn't live up to its promise, no questions asked.
